India has tested a ballistic missile capable of carrying a nuclear warhead 
RIA Novosti, Evgeny Pakhomov. The Indian army had on Friday successfully test-fired a ballistic missile "Agni-1", capable of carrying a nuclear warhead, according to television channel CNN-IBN.
According to media reports, the missile was launched on Friday morning from a mobile launcher, passed the test at the test site, located on the island of Wheeler in the Bay of Bengal off the coast of eastern Orissa state.
"Agni-1" - single-stage ballistic missile development of Indian-range to 700 kilometers. The missile can be equipped with various types of warheads, including nuclear.
"Agni-1" - the first in a family of ballistic missile "Agni", standing on the arms of Indian Army. In April of this year, India successfully tested a ballistic missile "Agni-5", which is capable of hitting targets at a distance of 5000 kilometers. This missile, which is close to the range intercontinental must undergo a series of test launches, and it is expected that it can be put into service in the 2014-2015 year. According to local press reports, India is already working on a missile "Agni-6" with an even greater range.
