Museum of Ryazan Airborne Forces celebrates the 40th anniversary



 July 28, 2012, on the eve of the 82nd anniversary of the Airborne Troops, the 40th anniversary of the establishment of the Museum of Navy, reported RZN.info in the management of the press service of the Russian Defense Ministry, and information on airborne troops.
The museum was created at the initiative of the legendary commander of the Navy, Army General Vasily Margelov and was opened July 28, 1972 in the Ryazan Higher Airborne Command School (RVVDKU) by decree of the Minister of Defense Marshal of the Soviet Union Andrei Grechko.
Over the years the museum with a unique history of creation and development of airborne forces have read more than 1.7 million people, a significant number of foreign visitors and delegations.
The total area of ​​the museum - more than three thousand square meters, of which 2.5 thousand - the area of ​​exhibition and exhibition halls. The museum hosts over 50,000 items of museum objects, including more than 15,000 - the main fund, 6500 museum objects, documents and photographs.
Basis of the collection's collections comprise relikviynye banners airborne divisions and brigades that took part in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945, military orders and medals of the soldiers, Marines, samples of domestic and foreign small arms, a collection of landing parachutes, military uniforms and equipment paratroopers , personal items, rare documents, archives, Navy commanders, front-line newspapers, letters, photographs and negatives of the combat training and daily life of Marines, Navy military documents participation in peacekeeping and counterterrorism operations, artwork, sports trophies and prizes, rare books on military training of soldiers, marines, and other relics and museum exhibits.
Museum - the world's only cultural institution, where the most complete and objective, based on documents and museum objects, reflected and systematized the history of airborne troops of Russia.
