Yakutsk Airport closed due to smoke from forest fires
Thick smoke from forest fires, enveloping Saturday Yakutsk and neighboring Khangalassky and Namsky regions of Yakutia, has led to closure of the airport of the capital of the republic, RIA Novosti said airport spokesman.
"Because of the dense fog of Yakutsk airport is closed until 23.00 local time (17.00 GMT)," - he said.
Earlier it was reported that, according to the Department of Forestry Relations Yakutia, in the republic on Friday were reported 16 forest fires on the total area of 3.6 thousand hectares.
On the streets of Yakutsk there acrid smell of smoke, thick smoke stings the eyes.
